FA Malaysia and youth sports events organiser Maxim Events are delighted to announce the launch of Liga Suparimau. The grassroots football competition will kick off in June 2021 with leagues for 6 to 16 year olds in 10 districts in Malaysia.
Providing a platform for young footballers in Malaysia to play regular competitive football in a development-focused environment, Liga Suparimau will follow a set of unified rules and regulations to create a consistent league experience across the country.
Through establishing equal opportunities and access to competitive matches, the project aims to lay the foundations for children from all backgrounds to grow and develop. By creating a network of leagues in districts across Malaysia, Liga Suparimau will encourage widespread involvement in football while preparing the most talented players for the highest levels of the game.
Starting in June, league competitions will launch in the Klang Valley as well as Perak and Penang, with expansion to all states in Malaysia planned by 2025. The competitions will be open to boys and girls.
Liga Suparimau will initially offer leagues in age groups from Under 6 through to Under 16 for the ‘open’ categories as well as girls-only categories from Under 8 to Under 16 in selected districts.
