Liga Suparimau presented by Boost Juice is back in Penang and Perak! Season C of Malaysia’s nationwide grassroots football league kicked off in both states on Saturday 1st and Sunday 2nd October.
Featuring weekly matches for teams in age groups from Under-8 up to Under-16, Liga Suparimau Penang is based out of Stadium Mini Permatang Rawa. Thirty-two teams got their 10-week campaigns underway last weekend with 13 matches across Saturday and Sunday mornings.
Those teams netted an impressive 58 goals in total with SP Brotherhood Junior, Penang Panther and SP United FC taking early leads in the Under-12, Under-14 and Under-16 age groups respectively.
This weekend will see 14 more matches kick off in Bukit Mertajam for match week 2.
Joining their cohorts from Penang in kicking off last week were the 32 teams registered for Liga Suparimau Perak.
Playing their matches at Padang Ipoh, the academies, from Under-8 to Under-16, will also compete across 10 match weeks.
In the Perak Under-12 division, Myteam FC got their season off to a flying start with a 4–0 victory – a scoreline that was matched in both Under-14 matches this weekend. DRZ FA A and DRZ FA B now share the honours at the top of the U14 table while MBI SC take an early lead in the Under-16 age group after a 6–2 win.
A total of 61 goals were recorded across all 12 matches at Padang Ipoh with players clearly setting their sights on Liga Suparimau’s upcoming Goal of the Year competition.
Elsewhere last weekend, Liga Suparimau saw action in its Kuala Lumpur, Selangor, Putrajaya and Klang Valley districts. Building on the season kick-off at the end of September, the league played host to 350 teams and over 5,100 players.
